Celebrations as Trainee Solicitor qualifies into Employment Law Team!
Tuesday 1st May is an important day for Chris Greep, who has been a Warner Goodman Trainee Solicitor for the last 18 months, as this is the day he becomes a Solicitor.
Chris first joined the firm’s Employment team as an intern in 2013 while taking a break from his law degree at University of Surrey. After completing his degree in 2015, he returned to the department as a Paralegal, working specifically for the Peace of Mind team, and started his Period of Recognised Training in September 2016. During his time as a Trainee, Chris completed seats in the Commercial Property, Company Commercial and Commercial Litigation teams. His final seat was in the Employment department, this time in the Litigation team, where he has now taken a permanent position.
Speaking on his time as a Trainee and his qualification, Chris commented, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my years at Warner Goodman and was eager to stay upon becoming a Solicitor. The Employment team is a particularly active one, not just with clients due to the fast changing world of employment law, but also with business development, marketing and a full events programme, so I have had the opportunity to hone many skills as well as my legal education. Working as an Employment Solicitor has been my goal since I first joined the firm five years ago so this is a very proud moment for me.”
In Chris’s role, he will now be working alongside Howard Robson, Employment Partner, advising employees on matters such as unfair dismissal or discrimination claims, redundancy procedures, settlement agreements and disciplinary or grievance issues. He will also work alongside the Peace of Mind team, supporting employers on Tribunal cases.
Dan Thompson, Trainee Partner, explains, “Watching our Trainee Solicitors grow during their time with us, in terms of both knowledge and confidence, is a rewarding journey for everyone. We aim to provide our qualifying Trainees a permanent position with us so we can continue to be a part of their career. I’m delighted we have been able to do this with Chris as he has been an integral part of the Commercial division of our firm for the last 5 years. I am sure Chris has a promising career ahead of him, and I’m excited to see how he progresses through the firm in the years to come.”
