Bella Scally Conquers London Marathon, Raising £1,400 for Macmillan Cancer Support
Bella Scally, a valued member of Warner Goodman LLP's Private Client team, completes the challenging London Marathon for Macmillan Cancer Support.
At the start of the year, Bella set an ambitious goal for 2024: to accomplish something she had never done before and challenge herself both physically and mentally. Her decision to apply for and participate in the iconic London Marathon was a bold move that set her on a path of intense training and preparation.
The London Marathon is one of the most prestigious and sought-after running events worldwide, with over 500,000 applicants each year and only 50,000 spots available.
After securing a place, Macmillan Cancer Support contacted Bella, inviting her to run on their behalf. Inspired by the invaluable support her family received from Macmillan during a difficult time, Bella was honoured to give back to this incredible charity.
Over the past 13 weeks, Bella adhered to a disciplined training regimen, overcoming minor injuries and challenges along the way. Her dedication paid off as she completed the 26.2-mile course in 5 hours and 41 minutes, earning a prestigious marathon medal.
"The atmosphere was incredible! Macmillan had cheer points throughout the course, providing a boost when I needed it most," Bella shared. "My friends and family were also there to cheer me on, dressed in green wigs and holding homemade signs. It was a truly special experience."
Although Bella didn't achieve her initial goal of finishing in under 5 hours, she was proud of her accomplishment. "I'm delighted with my time, especially considering the shin splints I experienced in the last half of the race. At one point, I even thought I wouldn't make it to the finish line!
"For someone who doesn't consider themselves a natural runner, I'm proud of what I accomplished. Joining the exclusive 0.01% of the world's population who have completed a marathon is an incredible feeling. Thank you to everyone for their support - I couldn't have done it without all the kind words and messages!" Bella reflected.
Bella's marathon journey raised an impressive £1,400 for Macmillan Cancer Support, bringing her total fundraising efforts to £2,000. This generous contribution will have a meaningful impact on the organisation's mission to provide support and resources to those affected by cancer.
Looking ahead, Bella is eager to continue her marathon journey. She plans to participate in marathons worldwide and has already been invited to join the Amsterdam Marathon later this year.
Bella Scally's story is a powerful example of determination, community support, and the drive to make a difference. Warner Goodman is immensely proud of Bella and her recent accomplishments. We look forward to cheering her on at her next marathon.
