A New Chapter in Affordable Housing: DLUHC First Homes Scheme

DLUCH's First Homes Scheme, promoted by Homes England and administered through DLUCH by Local Authorities, focuses on new build housing. The initiative aims to allocate up to 25% of a new development for purchase by essential workers and local first-time buyers, offering them discounted access to properties. Anticipating widespread success, DLUCH envisions the purchase of 15,000 homes annually once the scheme is fully implemented.

What sets these homes apart is the inclusion of a Property Log Book, a testament to the Government's unwavering commitment to this innovative documentation system. This log book, designed for future monitoring, signifies a significant step towards ensuring transparency and accountability in the housing sector.

Interestingly, France has recently taken a similar stride by mandating the use of these logbooks for all new builds and retrofits. The move reflects a global acknowledgement of the importance of organised property documentation in fostering responsible homeownership and sustainable housing practices.
