William Ware
William joined the firm in 1982 after attending Rugby school and graduating from Southampton University with an LLB degree in Law and sitting Law exams at Guildford College of Law.
William was an Articled Clerk until 1985 and on qualifying as a solicitor he specialised in litigation, initially working from the Cosham and Waterlooville Branch offices; in those days it was expected of a branch office solicitor to turn their hand to all kinds of work and that was when William started accepting instructions for Probate and administration of estates. During that time he gained an invaluable insight into working at the firm and the preferences of the firm’s clients. He subsequently moved to the Fareham Office shortly after the Probate Department was centralised. He now specialises in Inheritance Tax planning Wills and Trusts.
Assisted by such a broad background, William aims to provide the legal equivalent of an holistic approach to family succession, estate planning and in particular in helping owners of SMEs plan ahead when dealing with competing family interests.
In his career he has been fortunate to have served under Senior Partners who by example showed him how to become a trusted advisor, friend and guide to the clients. He sees his role as a responsibility to look ahead and put oneself in the client’s shoes and then apply his technical and other more general knowledge to advance the client’s plans. Nothing gives him more pride than to see the Quality Questionnaires being returned by clients remarking how well all the staff communicate and their supportive role on the matter.
On 30th April 2020 William retired as a Partner in the firm but he continues to serve as a Consultant, providing advice to the firm and its clients, drawing on the knowledge he has gained on Wills Trusts and Succession matters over the years since he joined the firm as an Articled Clerk in 1982.
William is married with two sons and lives on the Isle of Wight. Outside of work, he enjoys gardening and attempting to fish on the Solent.
